Monday March 26 2012 5 lady garden angels and 3 garden angel children, and me, weeded and fertilized the front 4 plots, and picked 1.5 lbs of asparagus and 41 lbs of carrots. The garden has never looked so pretty. I apologize for failing to get a list of all the angels' names. Included were Lisa McGee and the Crosswinds Elementary School Roots & Shoots Club. It does my heart good to see the love and benefit of gardening being passed on to the next generation.
YTD yield: 372 + 42 lbs asparagus and carrots today = 414 lbs total YTD. The picture on the left is just some of the carrots. On the right is at the Food Pantry
I will not be at the garden this coming Monday night but will be there subsequent Mondays 430-6ish. I dont have to be there. There is always hand weeding to be done, especially the asparagus bed.
Peggy and Emma will be gathering the remaining half of the carrots.
The zinnia team will be planting next week at Malfunction Junction corner of Verlington, Shelton, and Wolf River. That's Connie Bogema, Laura Ruth, and a Girl Scout Troop. I noted the Savoy cabbages and lots of volunteer sprout zinnias are growing beautifully in the old bed in the median in Peterson Lake Rd. Wonder if the town will have the heart to mow them down after we harvest the cabbage? :)
Aint God good!!!
