Victory Garden status 04/26/2012

Next work day is Monday 430-630 04/30/12. We will cleanup plot 2 (middle left/south) and plant purplehull peas and plant beans in the sweetcorn in plot 1.

Friday April 27 Carl is leading a tour of the garden for the senior citizens group of Germantown church of Christ.

Wednesday May 3 Janet Trent is leading a tour of the garden for a group of handicapped men from the VA Hospital.

Friday April 20 Carl picked 44 lbs of Savoy cabbage and took to large family who raise chickens for eggs and meat. The chickens eat the parts humans wont eat.

Monday April 23 Evie, Debra, Greg, Jordan, Les, Peggy, Bari, and one other volunteer angel planted more sunflowers, basel, and tomato plants, did some hand weeding, and picked 256 lbs of purpletop and Korean turnips, which Evie took to the Memphis Food Bank.

Thursday April 26 Carl watered the garden and did some hand weeding.

Our total 899 lbs + 44 Friday + 256 Monday = 1,199 lbs YTD.
