What a wonderful week in the Victory Garden. We dodged the bullet of old Strawberry Winter and the garden wa green and healthy this morning.
Four lady and one teen volunteer angels and I on Monday April 9 hand weeded the garlic, mulched the asparagus and greens, and planted 16 mater plants, and twelve each cucumbers plants and yellow crookneck squash plants and basil plants and marigold plants - all donated by Les Brannum of Bonnie Plant Farms. We also completely cleaned out the raised beds. They did a lot of excellent hard work!
Next Monday we will, Lord willing, plant more tomato and basil and marigold plants, hand weed the onions, put nitrogen on the corn, mulch the corn, move the compost pile into the raised wooded beds, and harvest more greens. Hopefully the water will be turned on by then and we can regularly water the garden.
This morning April 12, In Sung, new volunteer Joel, and I picked 52 lbs of Korean stalk cabbage and 146 lbs of turnip greens, of of which I took to the Food Pantry.
Our total is 531 + 198 today = 729 lbs YTD.
Aint God Good!
