Next work day is Monday April 9 430-630 PM. Lots of light work to do including picking lettuce and greens.
Monday April 2 2012 several volunteer angels: Les and Peggy and Emma and Elaine and two more men, did some much needed mulching and harvested the rest of the rutabagas (17 lbs) and carrots (99 lbs). Carl picked this morning asparagus (1 lb) and took it all to the Food Pantry except for the carrot tops which were taken to a large family which raises its own chickens for meat and eggs. Chickens love anything green. Mimi and Opal cleaned up the carrots and cut off the green tops.
YTD yield: 414 plus 117 today = 531 lbs total YTD.
The garden is beautiful now with the corn and taters and onions and garlic so big and turnips and lettuce ready to pick Monday, Lord willing.
Also the cut flower garden team got the new bed planted with zinnias and sunflowers on Monday, and the Good Lord sent a perfect soaking rain and warm weather. One zinnia has sprouted.
Aint God good!!!
