Victory Garden status June 14, 2012
2,150 lbs YTD + 17 lbs + 12 + 4 = 2,183 lbs for 2012.
Saturday June 9 me, Greg, and Jarred picked 17 lbs of cukes, maters, taters, and corn and took to an elderly couple on Sunflower St south of the tracks. We cleaned up all of plot 3 and pulled all the corn stalks from plot 1. Greg brought several bags of pine straw, I brought a van load and Herschel brought a pickup load of bags of grass clippings. We also finished caging the maters and lopes and spotted our first pea vine bloom. Jana continued weeding the asparagus.

Friday the cut flower team Laura and Connie cut and took a bouquet to two firehouses and 14 rooms at Baptist Trinity Hospice.
Tuesday (it rained Monday) me, Patree, Bob, and Les hilled up and planted crowder peas in plot 3. We also picked 12 lbs of squarsh and cukes.
Thursday June 14, 2012, I picked 4 more lbs of squarsh and 3 beautiful ripe maters and a handful of basil, and took that and the Tuesday harvest to the Collierville Food Pantry. And I cleaned up half of plot 1 and dragged the grass clipping bags inside the entryway.
Here's where we are: last summer planting Saturday morning 7-10am. We will finish cleaning plot 1 and haul those weeds and the remaining corn stalks to the dumpster and plant the Bogarts sweet tater slips in that plot, and TA DA and VIOLA we are done with our summer planting and jes waiting to pick peas and maters. So ---- need at least 4 to 6 helpers Saturday morning. OK to come late and leave early.
Aint God good!
