Another wonderful week in the Victory Garden!!!
Monday morning 07early Patree Ruggieri, Leah Mire, Mary Aaron, Selby Horton, Twila and I picked 18 lbs of green maters and dug 108 lbs of sweet taters and completely cleaned out plot 5 ready to plant more greens to be harvested in time to plant garlic end of November. We weeded plot 3 and interplanted onions in plot 3 with the cabbages which were already interplanted with Siberian kale. We also hilled up and planted all of plot 6 in turnip greens. And took all debris to the compost pile and cleaned the mater vines off the cages. WOW! These ladies did a lot of hard work!!!!!! I picked up a pickup load of bags of grass clippings from around town.
Monday afternoon Marti Sue Cline and Deborah Woody and a great group of hardworking Girl Scouts got a lot done too. They used the grass clippings to mulch plots 3 and 6 and dug most of the rest of the sweet taters (45 lbs) and picked 42 lbs of green maters. WOW!!!!! What a blessing they are!!!!
We will pick greens 430-6pm Wednesday and need a lot of help. They and the green maters and sweet taters will be taken to the Collierville Food Pantry Thursday morning. Please RSVP me by email to let me know who is coming!
3,458 + 108 + 18 + 45 + 42 = 3,671 year to date lbs!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
