Our late summer chores are under way, a little early. The Farmers Almanac is forecasting an early, cold, wet winter.
Leah Mire watered the garden every couple of days including today.
I mowed on Sunday, and I picked 16 lbs of maters Satiddy and took to the Emmons, an elderly couple who can no longer garden.
Today Leah and I picked 38 lbs of beautiful maters, cukes, jalapeno peppers, bell peppers, a cantaloupe, pole beans, and purple hull peas, which I delivered to 209 Friendship CV off Haley St south of the tracks.
Connie cut and took bouquets of zinnias today to Page Robbins and Dove Rehab and to the VA PTSD unit last week.
Harvest total 2013 to date:
1,370 lbs YTD + 16 + 38 lbs = 1,424 lbs new YTD.
1,370 lbs YTD + 16 + 38 lbs = 1,424 lbs new YTD.
To do list:
1. Water everything every two days this week.
2. Layoff and plant plot 5 (middle right) turnip greens.
3. Harvest Thursday pole beans, bell peppers, jalapenos, aigplants, cantaloupes, cukes, maters, and GREENS (thin by 50 percent).
4. Pull pea vines out of plot 2 (middle left), then lay it off and plant more greens.
5. Clean out and plant plot 6 per Selby and Jan's instructions.
Finance report:
Balance as of 8/08/2013: 783.70.
Ain't God good.
