Victory Garden status Thursday Aug 29 next work Monday Sep 02 730am

WOW what an exciting and eclectic day in the Victory Garden this morning August 29 2013 in the cool of the morning.

Sue, Arlene, and I picked 58 lbs of pole beans, purplehull peas, crowder peas, one aigplant, cucumbumbers, maters, jalapenyo and bell peppers, and yes believe it or not: asparagus and turnip greens. Go figger. We also pulled two cantaloupes but they had holes in'em so's we had to discard'em.

We took all the produce to the Food Pantry. We coulda picked another 4 or more bushels of turnip greens but we ran out of time and buckets and backs.

Harvest total 2013 to date:
1,424 lbs YTD + 58 lbs = 1,482 lbs new YTD.

Next work day is 0730am Monday morning to do some of the to-do list below. RSVP to me if you can be there. I know it's a holiday.

To do list:
1. Water everything every two days this week.
2. Layoff and plant plot 5 (middle right) turnip greens.
3. Harvest Thursday pole beans, bell peppers, jalapenos, aigplants, cantaloupes, cukes, maters, and GREENS (thin by 50 percent).
4. Pull pea vines out of plot 2 (middle left), then lay it off and plant more greens.
5. Clean out and plant plot 6 per Selby and Jan's instructions.

A good garden quote:
"The master of the garden is the one who waters it, trims the branches, plants the seeds, and pulls the weeds. If you merely stroll through the garden, you are but an acolyte."  ~ Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

Finance report:
Balance as of 8/08/2013:   783.70.

Ain't God good.
