Today Teresa, Judy, and Stephanie harvested all of the garlic in plot 4 and filled more than 4 yard bags of weeds. The garlic is now drying in Stephanie's garage and the weeds in the church's dumpster.
With the weather that blew through yesterday, two large branches fell out of one of the trees very near (but luckily not on) the compost fence and area.... we'll need a chainsaw and some brute strength to clean up the mess.
Tomorrow (Saturday, June 7) Memphis Area Master Gardeners are hosting open "houses" in several gardens in the county in a program called "Through Our Garden Gates". If interested check them out:

Next CVG work opportunities and focuses:
Tuesday, June 10, 8:30 am -10:30 am: continue weeding in the harvested garlic area (plot 4), weeding and mulching the two small southside walkways and the rest of the cinder block raised beds, and water, if necessary. Start disposing of the two downed trees in the compost area.
Tuesday, June 10, 5:30pm -7:00 pm: assist Girl Scouts as they tend their zinnia beds. Maybe harvest the rest of the elephant garlic with them in the back raised beds as well and other gardening activities.
