CVG 2015 June 15 - 20 Progress and Upcoming Opportunities

Upcoming CVG Organized Work Opportunities:
Monday June 22: 8:00 am - 10:30 am  -- Finish demo-ing rotten central beds in plot 4, top the empty plot 6 beds with soil from plot 4. Hand water tomatoes and archway boxes and hay bale beds and new corn bed. Remove any blossom rot tomatoes (sigh)......Repair/replace sprinkler head at back archway between plots1 and 2. Pull any doomed zuke plants. Transplant baby pepper plants into bigger pots. Maybe harvest some zinnias and sunflowers for donation.

Tuesday June 23 : 5:30 pm - dusk -- Host Girl Scout troop for garden tasks such as....harvest two white potato beds, pull weeds in zinnia beds, Continue weeding, especially walkways and "volunteer" grass in beds. Work on more permanent id's for vegetables.  Maybe clean some of the dried garlic. Spray beans with neem oil mix again.  Make sure cukes and pole beans are vining up the trellises.

Thursday June 25: 8:00 am - 10:30 am  -- Harvest for the Food Pantry.  Hand water all tomatoes, archways, haybales. Continue garden tasks.

Upcoming Teaching Opportunity:

Tuesday June 23 : 5:30 pm - 7 pm -- Host Girl Scout Troop arriving at 6 pm to tend zinnia beds and other garden tasks. Please let me know if you are available to assist.

Harvest donation:

June 18, 2015 67 lbs of green beans, cucumbers, zucchini, garlic, eggplant, red potatoes, pepper harvest donations:
to the Collierville Food Pantry on June 18, 2015  = 67 lbs
Total YTD harvest donation = 1111 lbs
Work Progress:

On Monday June 15,  Teresa, Twila, Stephanie. Planted Arkansas Traveler tomatoes in plot 4, filled plot 2 center bed with compost from plot 6, added plot 4 dirt to plot 6, continued fence timber barrier work.
On Tuesday June 16,  Arlene, Teresa, Twila, Stephanie. Hosted girl scouts and 2 parents to clean some dried garlic, plant a few more tomatoes, plant sweet potato slips in plot 5, plant purple hull peas in plot 2, talk composting/spin composter. Later sprayed neem on beans, cukes.
On Thursday June 18,  Arlene, Twila, Stephanie, Patree, Stacy. Harvested for food pantry. Patree delivered (thank you!). Staked up tomatoes in plot 3. Side-dressed new corn. Fertilized peppers. Messed with irrigation system. Hand watered where needed. Talked strawberries and carrots and cucumbers with a visiting future master gardener recruit:
