CVG Progress July 27 - August 2, 2015

    85 lbs of tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, cowpeas, okra, sweet and hot pepper:

to the Collierville Food Pantry on July 30, 2015  = 43 lbs + some garlic
to Incarnation food pantry/Resurrection School (Hickory Hill) and Collierville South St. neighbors on July 27, 2015 = 36 lbs + some garlic (thank you Patree for delivering!)
to Collierville Baptist Hospital Nurses Station on July 27, 2015 = 6 lbs of juliet tomatoes (thank you Val for delivering!)

Work Progress:

On Monday July 27,  Jan T., Twila, Cindy, Jan, Teresa, Val, Jacob, Stephanie, Patree, Arlene. Harvested 42 lbs total of tomato, cucumber, eggplant, cowpeas, okra, pepper. Val delivered 6 lbs to Collierville Baptist nurses station, Patree delivered to Incarnation food pantry/Resurrection School and South St. Worked in the compost area. Topped some beds with topsoil mix and/or garden made compost. Filled holding bins in garden with promix mix. Sprayed BT on corn. Deadheaded a few sunflowers. Started making sign raised bed. Weeded in plot 7. Applied sevin to pumpkin trunks. Killed squash bugs/eggs. Pulled some aphid infested purple hull plants. Hand watered where necessary. Arlene cut sunflowers, arranged bouquets, and delivered to Page Robbins.

On Tuesday July 28,  Jan Teresa, Stephanie, Jacob. Picked 14 lbs of tomatoes and okra. Hand watered where necessary. Sprayed BT on corn and neem on cucumbers, polebeans, and some purple hulls. Killed squash bugs/eggs on pumpkin/melon plants. Worked on irrigation and turned it back on auto. Worked on public paragraphs for MAMG website.

On Thursday July 30,  Jan, Twila, Teresa, Stephanie, Patree. Harvested 29 lbs of corn, tomato, cuke, eggplant, okra, cowpea. Patree delivered 43 lbs total to Collierville Food Pantry. Side dressed plot 1 corn. Sprayed freshly mixed BT on plot 2 corn. Planted cukes and marigolds in back archway boxes. Planted more teddy bear sunflowers in zinnia beds. Pulled poke sallet weeds along treeline and disposed. Disposed of old roll of chicken wire fencing. Filled plastic bottle drip irrigation and handwatered elsewhere, if necessary. Killed squash bugs/eggs on pumpkin. Sprinkled sevin on pumpkin trunks.

On Saturday Aug 1,  Stephanie and son CJ cleaned the last box of dried garden garlic so it's ready for donation.
