Work Progress:
On Monday October 19, Jan, Twila, Teresa, Stephanie, Carol. Harvested 7 lbs green beans, 25 lbs tomatoes and okra and pepper, 9 lbs of red romaine lettuce and hot pepper, 11 lbs of turnips and mustard greens, 18 lbs of green tomatoes— 70 lbs total. Patree delivered the harvest and some of previous weeks’ sweet potatoes on Tuesday am to the Incarnation School in Hickory Hill.
On Tuesday October 20, updated email, blog as well as sent out answers to next year’s “Through Our Garden Gates” garden tour questionnaire.
On Wednesday October 21, Twila, Jan, Teresa, and Stephanie met to plan next year’s budget request and general plan. Sprayed neem and/or BT on all cabbage, greens, pole beans. Filled the bird feeders.
On Thursday October 22, Jan, Teresa, Stephanie, Lauryce, Carol, Kim harvested 36 lbs (+ some previous weeks’ sweet potatoes) for the Collierville Food Pantry- 18 lb tomatoes and peppers, 9 lb green beans, okra, and swiss chard, 9 lbs of turnips. Patree delivered. They then harvested 40 lbs for The Salvation Army—9 lb tomato and swiss chard, 5 lbs of hot peppers, 10 lbs of tomatoes, 5 lbs of collards, 11 lbs of turnips. Lauryce delivered that plus the previous week’s 35 lbs of sweet potatoes. They then harvested 66 lbs of sweet potatoes, held for drying/curing.
