Work Progress:
On Monday November 2, Twila, Jan, Stephanie, Teresa, Val, and Dianne harvested 15 lbs cabbage, 5 lb swiss chard, 5 lb pepper, 30 lb tomato, 15 lb kale and turnip, 7 lb green bean, 7 lb turnip and collard, and 1 lb mustard. Patree delivered to Resurrection School Tuesday am. Hosted 20 elementary students (plus parents) in the Roots and Shoots Garden Club to build a lasagna compost bed, talk garden composting, and dig the rest of the sweet potatoes. They harvested 25 lbs.
On Tuesday November 3, Stephanie sprayed neem on green beans and greens and folded up landscape plastic sheets and stored.
On Wednesday November 4, Val and Stephanie harvested 11 lbs greens and peppers and okra, 12 lbs tomatoes and beans, 7 lbs cabbage. All delivered to Memphis Union Mission Moriah House. Jan shopped for new tools and supplies.
On Thursday November 5, Teresa, Twila, Jan, Carole, Kim, and Stephanie harvested 9 lbs turnips, 7 lbs mustard, 6 lbs cabbage, 17 lb tomatoes and okra, 1 lb peppers. Patree delivered 40 lbs to the Collierville Food Pantry. They then harvested 6 lbs sweet potatoes, held for drying/curing. Garden cleaned up—moved last of the compost and 10-year cow manure into the garden. Weeded plot 2. Pulled spent zinnia. Raked up pine needles and spread them in demo beds. Pulled glad bulbs. Moved remaining concrete blocks into garden and started making new mini-beds for strawberries in plot 2.
On Sunday November 8, Stephanie sprayed BT on cabbage and updated email/blog.
