Work Progress:
On Monday September 12, Twila, Teresa, Stephanie, Patree. Harvested 4 lbs for a family in need. Patree delivered. Sprayed neem, sprinkled diatomaceous earth, garden-safe fire ant control in cabbage beds. Cut back remaining tomatoes. Lightly fertilized tomatoes and peppers with nitrogen. Added 25 lbs of coffee grounds that Teresa picked up from Starbucks to the composters.
On Tuesday September 13, Leah harvested and delivered the zinnias.
On Wednesday September 14, Twila and Jan worked in the perennial beds and compost area. Teresa harvested 19 lbs of sweet potato from two bins in plot 4. Found lots of rodent damage. Divided and repotted 6 Stella d’Oro day lilies and donated some big blue liriope.
On Thursday September 15, Arlene, Patree, Leah, Teresa, Twila, Stephanie. Harvested 51 lbs okra, 9 lb eggplant and peppers. Patree delivered a total of 79 lbs (including the 19 lb sweet potato from Wednesday) to Resurrection Catholic School in Hickory Hill. Harvested an additional 5 lb of eggplant and okra. Stephanie delivered to the Collierville Food Pantry. Pulled one more bed of cowpeas in plot 6. Moved sweet potato bins to raised beds that needed topping with soil and harvested/topped with soil at same time. Total sweet potato harvest of the day was 23 lbs. All bins now harvested. Hand watered where needed.
On Friday September 16 and Saturday September 17, Stephanie hand watered archways and seeded raised beds.
